Why You Belong on the Illinois PTA State Board?

The Illinois PTA is dedicated to children’s educational success, health, and well-being through strong family and community engagement, while remaining accountable to the principles upon which our association was founded. We do this through an active State Board and Committees comprised of volunteers and the Executive Director, but we need you to join our team, so we are a strong force throughout Illinois.

  1. My kids are grown…Now What? Everytime your kids leave a school there is a heart tug as you watch them grow, but you might also be asking…now what? If your kids have aged out of a school with PTA, but you still want to be active in the mission of PTA you can continue to be an active member of your PTA, but you can also make an impact with the Illinois State PTA. We have Committees that are always looking for Directors and Committee Members at Large.
  2. I have ideas that I think can help others across the state. This is great, and we cannot wait to hear your ideas! PTAs throughout Illinois are constantly looking for new and fresh ideas on how to grow their membership, engage volunteers, and support strong families and school relationships. You can make a difference by joining a committee or becoming a Region Director.
  3. I am concerned about legislation involving our children- We get it! Our LegPol committee works hard throughout the year to keep a pulse on the Illinois legislature and the impact it has on schools throughout the state. We connect with legislators in Springfield and on Capitol Hill to share the impact their votes have on our children and schools. Join our team and help make a direct impact.
  4. Did you know that PTA has many turnkey programs that units can implement to make meaningful events at their schools, but many do not know about them because we need volunteers to help get the word out. You can join our Family and Engagement Committee to help support units and bring important events to their area.
  5. Did someone mention compliance? Every PTA relies on committed volunteers, and no matter how organized our members and officers are, there are always gaps in communication. We are looking for people to reach out to PTA units to ensure they understand compliance items and where to find important resources.
  6. I want to be involved, but I don’t know if I really have time or the knowledge need to join the state PTA. The state PTA is made up of a team of volunteers just like you. Each of us started as a parent that just wanted to be active in our child’s education. We definitely have a place for you! We work as a team and support each other through the busy and busier times of the year.
If you are interested in doing a bit more and reaching beyond your PTA, we have a place for you!
