Board Development and Nominating Committee
(Term 2025-2027)
The Board Development and Nominating Committee (BDNC) consists of five members: three from the State Board of Directors and two from the general membership. Each member serves a two-year term, with the option to be nominated for a second term. Terms are staggered to ensure continuity within the committee.
At the Illinois PTA 2025 Convention, we’ll be electing two BDNC members for the 2025-2027 term: one member from the current State Board and one general member. If you’re interested, please submit a LETTER OF INTEREST by January 6, 2025.
General members must meet the following requirements:
- Have at least one year of service on the board of a constituent body.
- Not be a continuing member of the State Board of Directors or a candidate assuming office as of July 1.
- No two members may be from the same PTA local unit.
The Board Development & Nominating Committee responsibilities:
- develop and review the process for gathering information on potential leaders and use data collected to identify potential candidates, cultivate and recruit potential leaders within and outside PTA;
- review letters of interest and other submissions by potential leaders;
- screen, evaluate, and select potential leaders;
- interact with potential leaders by attending state, region, district functions;
- attending Illinois PTA Convention, and
- at the invitation of the State President, attending meetings of the State Board of Directors;
- meet in person or via conference call to consider all recommendations;
- vote by ballot, which can be done electronically;
- select a qualified candidate for each position, after careful consideration of all qualifications, and secure the consent of each nominee;
- nominate a candidate for each position with the consent of the nominee
BDNC member expenses will be reimbursed with the approval of the President as follows:

- Up to two (2) members per district/region event;
- All members will be covered for convention.

ALL BDNC MEMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO:
- be a member in good standing with a local PTA.
