State Officers (2025-2027)

At the Illinois PTA 2025 Convention, we’ll be electing our state officers for the 2025-2027 term. Interested persons must submit a LETTER OF INTEREST no later than January 6, 2025.

President (2025-2027) responsible to oversee the operations of the association, including facilitating all meetings, as well as serving as the spokesperson when Illinois PTA is asked to provide information.

facilitates the work of the association in consultation with the executive committee;

presides at all meetings of the Illinois PTA, including: the annual convention, state board of directors and executive committee;

represents the Illinois PTA in accordance with the structure of the National PTA’s requirements;

serves as spokesperson for Illinois PTA;

is an ex-officio member of all committees except the board development and nominating committee;

signs all contracts ordered by the state board of directors;

participates in cooperating agency meetings as assigned by the executive committee or appoints a representative;

appoints special committees and program coordinators;

appoints consultants and parliamentarian;

approves all materials prepared by the president-elect and the vice presidents;

approves all materials used in the electronic communications media of the Illinois PTA; and

signs all contracts in the name of the association.
President-Elect (2025-2027) serves as an assistant to the president and facilitates the work of the legislative committees.

serves as a member of the Executive Committee;

is responsible for the legislative committees: Legislation Policies, Education Issues and Resolutions;

approves materials prepared by those committees:

must have served at least one (1) year on the state board, prior to election;

become the Illinois PTA President upon completion of term.
Vice President of Field Operations (2025-2027) facilitates a team that works directly with the local units, councils and areas of the state without region directors.

serves as a member of the executive committee

reports directly to the President;

facilitates and assists in the work of the Region Directors;

approves all materials sent out by Region Directors;

serves as a liaison between the Executive Committee and the Region Directors; and

is responsible for any region without a Region Director.
Vice President of Program Services (2025-2027) facilitates the work of the program committee directors.

serves a member of the Executive Committee;

reports directly to the President;

facilitatestheProgramDirectorsandcommittees,with thee exception of the legislative committees referenced in president-elect and the Board Development and Nominating Committee;

approves all plans of work and materials sent out by Program Directors supervised;

serves as a liaison between the Program Directors and the Executive Committee; and

is responsible for the work of those committees where a vacancy exists.
Secretary (2025-2027) transcribes the minutes of all meetings, conducts correspondence of the association and maintains board member information.

serves as a member of the Executive Committee;

reports directly to the President;

records and maintains official documents of the Illinois PTA, which are kept on file in the offices of the association, including but not limited to: minutes of the meetings of the Executive Committee, Board of Directors and convention; reports; recommendations from the Executive Committee for board consideration, as well as signed contracts;

records verbatim all motions made at any of the above mentioned meetings including any amendments thereto, and the final disposition of the motion;

maintains an accurate eligibility list of all State Board Directors; and

conducts official correspondence of the Illinois PTA as directed by the Executive Committee.
Treasurer (2025-2027) has oversight of the financial details of the association and facilitates the work of the budget and finance committee.

reports directly to the President;

oversees the financial transactions of the Illinois PTA in conjunction with the state office;

maintains a complete set of books of budgeted accounts;

registers signatures on all financial accounts, secures all account forms, completes authorizations, and secures signature of the president and secretary;

disburses funds only in accordance with the budget adopted by the convention delegates and as authorized by the State Board of Directors;

presents financial reports at the meetings of the Illinois PTA including the state convention, the State Board of Directors, and the Executive Committee;

serves as director of the Budget and Finance Committee, and the Office Policy and Personnel Committee;

serves as director of the endowment fund trustees; and

serves as a consultant to convention General Arrangements Committee

All Board Members Are Required To:

be a member in good standing with a local PTA.
sign the ILLINOIS PTA STATE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STATE BOARD MEMBERS
serve on state committees and convention committees as assigned by the president.
attend meetings of the state board of directors held 4 times per year for 1-2 days. These include pre-convention board meeting and post-convention board meeting.
attend an orientation meeting held prior to August 1 each year.
